The Black Hills

July 14, 2015

Last weekend, we headed towards the beautiful western side of South Dakota en route to the Black Hills. We decided to leave Ivy at home with Grandma Betsy to get some quality time with Leo, and let’s be honest, to make it easier on us! : /  We hit some gorgeous hikes, shopped around the antique stores, and had a blast at the wedding! Congratulations Kyle and Celeste Horazdovsky!

We started our trip on Thursday and made a stop at Rapid City. To our surprise, it was the night of the Main Street Square Concert Series. There were two live bands playing, tons of people walking the streets, and a beautiful night to cap it off. John, Leo, and I, walked around, said cheers with some beer (well minus Leo…indirectly), and enjoyed the live music to stretch out our legs!

The coolest is ART ALLEY! It’s an entire alley dedicated to graffiti!blackhillswedding-2

The next couple of days we hiked two different paths, walked around Sylvan Lake, and downed some more beer at the State Game Lodge in Custer.

Of course John had to do some shopping for antiques and animal stuff for our cabin. This was a favorite! So West River, ha! I love it

Last but not least, the wedding night for Kyle and Celeste. BEAUTIFUL setting, gorgeous bride, handsome groom, and surrounded by fun and friends. Very memorable evening! Leo loved the disco lights :)

Next time, the kid in me wants to bring Ivy and hit Reptile Gardens and Bear Country! I know she had fun with Emmie and Papa though!

Weekend Shenanigans with the Dads

June 24, 2015

We have been so busy! As if I didn’t expect that with two kids now, but we have been all over the place lately! No slowing down at all. We are adjusting to two, but it’s going very well. Leo is a really easy baby so far, just goes with the flow… and he has to to keep up with this family! This last weekend we took him to our cabin in Yankton on Friday, then headed north to Lake Madison to spend Father’s Day with John’s family. His sister’s kids, Anna and Nora, are in town and are having a BLAST with Ivy! It is so much fun to see her interact with other kids, I love it. She’s taking advantage of having them wrapped around her finger :) We also had a family wedding on Saturday so lots of relatives got to meet Leo and see Ivy again. It was a busy yet very very fun weekend! Action packed the rest of the summer!

And for those of you who were wondering, we made it to BOTH of our concerts! Since I had such a quick delivery, my recovery was just as fast! And Leo was perfectly healthy, so we were able to get out the next day, sort of felt like Princess Kate ;) Minus the stunning looks and barely there baby bump leaving the hospital. Nevertheless, we got out in time for Ed Sheeran the following day! AND we also got to go to Kenny Chesney last Thursday. Yahoo!! It was so much fun and it was just enough time to be away from him before rushing home to feed again. The hubs and I enjoyed a beer (or two, ok… three) together too, hooray!

The weekend before…

June 13, 2015

Ok, so YES, we had a baby. And I’ll get to that. BUT, the weekend before was so much fun that I couldn’t skip it! And there were some really great pictures, soooo, obvs had to include them. Plus, it was my birthday weekend and we had a few friends at our cabin in Yankton. Beach and boating were highlights. Oh, and ice cream :) SAYONARA MATERNITY SWIMSUIT!!

I just can’t help but look at her cute tush in that suit! Good thing her buddy Bear is too into his sand ;)

It was Quinn’s first time to the sand and she was a natural! She dug right in! Go Quinn!

My little explorer. She’s discovered the weeds that you blow and all the fluff comes off – she couldn’t stop picking them. She’s for hire, folks! ;)

EEEEK! And then the next day I had a baby! CRAZY! We barely made it back from Yankton Monday morning before he was born! It’s so bizarre to me that one day you’re big and pregnant and the next day you have a teeny baby. Humans are so interesting! Koch party of four now –  WHEW!

To be continued… I’m busy snuggling Leo xxoo

Weekend with the Sis

June 2, 2015

Last weekend my sister Jillian came to visit! It was so exciting to see her because she lives in Indianapolis so it’s not too often that we get to see each other. PLUS, she’s pregnant TOO!!!! So we had some fun comparing bellies (I’m 37 weeks and she’s 24, not fair) and talking everything baby :) She’s having a girl due September 16 so I cannot WAIT for her to join in this mama thing with me! It will be so fun for Ivy to have another cousin.

Jillian got to come to swimming lessons with Ivy and I, a baby appointment, and then we headed to our cabin in Yankton for some fun in the sun. Great weekend!

Love sister time – isn’t it the best?!

Next time I see Jillian we will have our BABY BOY! She has her baby shower August 1st so we can’t wait to see each other again! She’ll get in some good practice with Little Mr. Koch :)

Birthday Bash and Our Weekend

May 26, 2015

This was a big weekend for the Koch’s! John has worked ultra hard the past 5 months and just finished an addition onto our cabin in Yankton, so it was the big reveal and Grandpa Dan’s 70th birthday party! We had the whole Koch clan down for the weekend and had so much fun with everyone. Despite the crummy weather, the cabin and lake were still so soothing for this 36.5 week preggo gal.

We started on Thursday with a trip to the Cottonwood Bar, our favorite for live music, drinks, and ice cream! YUM. Ivy didn’t want to share her ice cream with the birthday boy Papa!

We braved the weather one day and headed to the lake. We bundled up but it was still nice to break in the first day on the boat for the summer!

On Monday, we had the day to just us three. We took Ivy to the Gavin’s Point Fish Hatchery and Aquarium and it was so much fun! We got to feed the trout and Ivy LOVED it. Hilarious. We had to make a trip to the beach too. She wasn’t a fan of the sand. She better get over that fast!

Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with your family and friends. We are forever grateful to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Thank you thank you!
